Tasting Notes: Bold start, smooth finish. Slightly smoky with chocolate undertones, thick body. 

Producer: smallholder farmers who are members of the COMSA cooperative, about 1,600 farmers are members. We have been buying their coffee since 2014.

Origin: La Paz, Marcala

Altitude: 1,300 - 1,700 masl

Varietal: Bourbon, Typica, Catuai, Caturra

COMSA was formed in the year 2000 by 61 coffee farmers. They were seeking more sustainable prices for their coffee so they became certified organic to receive premiums for their coffee. In February 2006, COMSA became Fair Trade certified enabling them to receive more premiums for their crop. COMSA uses their funds for many social projects. We hosted some of their representatives and farmers at our cafe in October 2019 and they spoke very passionately about their school. They are very proud of the education they provide for about 250 children. The children learn 17 subjects in school.
